Great Wall Motor announced on Wednesday this week that its full-year sales reached 1,230,704 vehicles in 2023, rising 15.29% from the previous year.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Great Wall Motor ("GWM") announced on Wednesday this week that its full-year sales reached 1,230,704 vehicles in 2023, rising 15.29% from the previous year.

Despite the year-on-year (YoY) growth in its annual sales, GWM still failed to achieve the 1.6-million-unit yearly sales target it set for the year of 2023.

In December 2023 alone, GWM sold 29,858 new energy vehicles (NEVs), resulting in a full-year NEV sales volume of 262,003 units, which surged 98.74% YoY and hit an all-time high level.

In addition, GWM said its annual sales of overseas business also hit a new high of 316,018 units last year, soaring 82.48% from the previous year. Of those, 33,476 units were sold in the year's last month.

GWM also noted that with around 225,800 units sold in 2023, vehicles priced above 200,000 yuan accounted for 18.34% of its overall yearly auto sales, up 3.07 percentage points over the previous year.

Breaking down sales figures by specific brands, the HAVAL brand recorded a sales volume of 715,188 vehicles in 2023, representing a 16% YoY growth. Notably, its NEV sales amounted to 77,461 units in the year, rocketing 648.56% over a year earlier.

The WEY brand saw its 2023 annual sales climb 14.35% YoY to 41,602 units. It is noteworthy that its monthly sales reached 3,512 units in December with a 3-digit YoY surge of 154.49%.

The TANK brand sold 162,539 vehicles through 2023, indicating a 31.21% YoY leap. Of those, 33,993 units were contributed by the models riding on the Hi4-T architecture.

The NEV-dedicated ORA brand sold 10,026 vehicles in December, for the 8th month in a row to see its monthly sales exceed 10,000 units. Its full-year sales climbed 4.35% from a year ago to 108,518 units.

Moreover, Great Wall Pick-up boasted a 16.88% YoY jump in its December sales, which stood at 16,032 units. Its full-year sales came in at 202,330 units, up 8.46% from the previous year.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
