Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On January 1, 2024, XPeng put its flagship model, the XPeng X9, under the SEPA2.0 architecture, marking the company's entry into the MPV segment. The X9 lineup includes four trim levels priced between 359,800 and 419,800 yuan, with deliveries set to commence this month.

Benefiting from the technological empowerment of the SEPA2.0 architecture, the XPeng X9 disrupts conventional perceptions of MPVs in terms of intelligence, space, driving dynamics, and safety, said the carmaker. It caters to the increasingly personalized and diversified travel needs of contemporary consumers.

In contrast to traditional MPVs with basic configurations and limited intelligence, the XPeng X9 features the XNGP (XPeng Navigation Guided Pilot) full-scenario intelligent driving assistance system and the XOS Tianji smart cockpit operating system. Leveraging XPeng's rapid advancement in intelligent driving, the X9's XNGP system is ready for use upon delivery.

The XPeng X9 debuts the latest XOS Tianji intelligent cockpit system, achieving a split-screen display of navigation maps and numerous applications. With robust sensing capabilities, it provides a seamless SR (simulated reality) experience from boarding to driving to parking. Enhanced by the AI assistant powered by the self-developed XGPT AI large model, the X9 introduces an "AI butler" for comprehensive intelligent service evolution, covering 99% of conversation scenarios.

Concerning passenger space, the 7.7m² interior area perfectly meets diverse family travel scenarios. Even when fully occupied by seven passengers, it accommodates camping and sports equipment. The third-row seats of the XPeng X9 offer one-touch electric “magic” storage, expanding the trunk space to a maximum of 2,554 liters, capable of fitting four adult bicycles, over 10 golf bags, or 29 20-inch suitcases.

According to the automaker, the chassis of the XPeng X9 undergoes a complete retuning, with a 30% improvement in steering response, a 9% increase in cornering grip performance, and a 30% boost in high-speed stability. Additionally, all X9 versions come standard with an active rear-wheel steering system and an intelligent dual-chamber air suspension system, providing a turning diameter of only 10.8 meters for agile driving while automatically adjusting suspension firmness based on road conditions.

Addressing real-world driving concerns, the XPeng X9 adopts the 800V high-voltage SiC platform with 3C battery cells as standard. Under CLTC conditions, it achieves a maximum range of 702 kilometers, with a comprehensive energy consumption of only 16.2 kWh per 100 kilometers.

Performance-wise, the 800V XPower electric drive system delivers 370kW of maximum power, 640N·m of peak torque, a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 5.7 seconds, and a top speed of 200km/h.

In terms of body craftsmanship, the XPeng X9 features a 2,000MPa body with unibody design, incorporating nineteen circular safety designs, various high-strength steels, and lightweight aluminum materials. Moreover, the XPeng X9 adopts an integrated front and rear aluminum die-cast body structure, with a maximum die-casting force of 12,000 tonnes and a vehicle torsional stiffness of 46,000N·m/deg.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
