Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On December 29, Chinese power battery maker Gotion High-tech officially announced that its inaugural made-in-USA battery pack product rolled off the production line at the Fremont factory on December 21.

This development marks another significant move for Gotion High-tech following the disclosure of its battery and materials facility layout in Illinois and Michigan. The launch signals the official commencement of Gotion's "Made in the USA" initiative.

Situated in the Silicon Valley region, the Fremont factory is part of Gotion's strategic positioning in the American market, with a planned production capacity of 1 GWh. Featuring an 85% automation rate, this facility represents Gotion's first Pack production line in the United States.

The Fremont factory is geared towards the American Energy Storage System (ESS) market, focusing on the production of portable energy storage products and home energy storage products ranging from 3 kWh to 30 kWh. Additionally, the factory will continue its efforts in technological and product innovation, customer expansion, service enhancement, and supporting capacity to deliver reliable and safe integrated energy storage systems.

Gotion High-tech founded its Silicon Valley Research Institute in 2014, marking the starting point for Gotion's internationalization.

Senior Vice President of Gotion High-tech and President of Gotion Americas Business, Li Chen, emphasized the company's emerging presence in the American market. "For the past decade, we have consistently adhered to a three-in-one strategy featuring localized research & development, localized manufacturing, and localized marketing. From the initial development of battery management systems to the present battery factory, we have encountered numerous challenges and tests. Today, we have made a name for ourselves in the Americas market, and with the help of the Illinois battery factory and Michigan material factory, Gotion will work together with customers to build a localized and diversified supply chain system characterized by a full value chain."

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
