Beijing (Gasgoo)- On December 28, Geely-backed mobility technology firm ECARX partnered with electric vehicle maker smart to announce the formation of Zhimda Software Technology Co., Ltd. (“Zhimada” in Chinese pinyin).
This collaboration aims to focus on technological development, fostering talent exchange, and united innovation. Their joint efforts will expand ECARX's technological ecosystem, catering to global consumers' individual needs while positioning smart as a benchmark for intelligent experiences within the industry. The collaboration seeks to innovate and expedite global advancements.
ECARX and smart's partnership in crafting the unique HMI design of smartOS for the smart #1 and smart #3 models garnered significant acclaim. A joint team with comprehensive understanding and rich development capabilities and experience in smart vehicles has been established. Both parties plan to integrate the high-performance ECARX Makalu computing platform, based on the AMD Ryzen Embedded V2000 processor and Radeon RX6000 series GPU, into smart’s vehicles, laying a solid foundation for deeper cooperation.
The newly established Zhimada Software Technology Co., Ltd. will continue amplifying the unique advantages of the collaboration. It aims to optimize the R&D ecosystem, process systems, procurement systems, and premium supply chains, uniting talents in vehicle development and intelligent technology. Leveraging accumulated expertise in vehicle intelligence and platform systems, this initiative aims to cultivate in-house capabilities, fostering sustained product prowess, and supporting both parties' long-term global development.
The joint venture is currently based in Fuyang, Hangzhou city. The team, starting with smartOS, will explore a diverse range of developments, from operating systems to user algorithms and application ecosystems, aiming to create a customizable intelligent experience for users. This initiative also seeks to expedite the ECARX Makalu computing platform's integration into smart’s products, exploring new possibilities in immersive cabins, including 3A games, AI technology, brand IP incubation, and ecosystem development.
