Vietnam's VinFast and Japan's Marubeni sign memorandum of understanding on battery recycling"
On December 18, Vietnam's electric car manufacturer VinFast (VFS.US) announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Marubeni Corporation of Japan on the recycling of old electric car batteries, in order to explore the opportunity for secondary use of electric vehicle (EV) batteries and the potential for establishing a circular economy model. VinFast and Marubeni will collaborate to research and manufacture battery energy storage systems (BESS) using recycled electric car batteries, with VinFast providing old electric car batteries and Marubeni conducting feasibility assessments and BESS deployment. The two companies will also closely cooperate to promote business opportunities in the field of recycled electric car batteries, aiming to establish a circular economy model.
