The NIO ET9, the fire new flagship model set to make its debut at the NIO Day 2023 on December 23, will be equipped with a 900-volt high-voltage architecture.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The NIO ET9, the fire new flagship model set to make its debut at the NIO Day 2023 on December 23, will be equipped with a 900-volt high-voltage architecture, Mr. Bi Lu, assistant vice president of electric drive and high-voltage systems at NIO, revealed today on his personal Sina Weibo account.

Bi Lu said that the NIO ET9 will utilize a groundbreaking 900V high-voltage architecture, which means that with the further reduction of high-voltage wiring weight in the vehicle, the overall charging performance can be improved. Combined with NIO's power swap system, this will create the best solution for energy replenishment. Additionally, the new intelligent electric drive platform where the ET9 rides on will reduce the weight and size of electric motors, and incorporate various innovative technologies in the product design to achieve higher power density.

He added, together with a more secure and reliable high-voltage distribution redundancy architecture and a redundant dual-motor system in the front and rear, as well as NIO's self-developed big data system and intelligent control algorithms, the 900V electric drive system can be constantly monitored for health status and continuously optimize control parameters based on the user's driving behaviors, ensuring efficient, safe and reliable power output.

On December 19, NIO's Head of Vehicle Application Software, Mr. Xiao Baihong, announced on his personal Weibo account that the ET9 will be equipped with an intelligent fully chassis-by-wire system. He also stated that this is the only true fully intelligent drive-by-wire chassis in the world that combines three core hardware systems, greatly improving the vehicle's driving comfort, handling and safety.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
