Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chinese power battery maker SVOLT held a ceremony on December 20 to celebrate the first battery pack produced at its factory in Sriracha Chonburi, Thailand rolling off the production line, according to a post on SVOLT's WeChat account.

The significant product is a 60 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack that boasts a range exceeding 500 km and leverages SVOLT's star product, the L600 series short-blade cells, along with the LCTP assembly technology. With advantages of low cost, high production efficiency, and superior energy density, it is able to meet the mainstream battery needs for A-segment vehicles in the Thai market, said the company.

The first battery pack model manufactured by SVOLT's Thai factory will be installed onto the Thai-spec ORA Good Cat all-electric car model, with mass deliveries anticipated in the first quarter of the coming year.

SVOLT's Senior Vice President and President of the Asia-Pacific Region, Zhang Feng, expressed the significance of this milestone, stating that the first battery pack from the Thai factory is a crucial step in SVOLT's expansion into the Southeast Asian market. Built upon the anticipated mass production of power battery packs in February next year, the company aims to further invest in energy storage battery assembly and integration lines, actively expanding its business in Southeast Asia in areas such as light-duty power and energy storage. This strategic move aims to better serve Southeast Asian customers with comprehensive and high-quality lithium-ion products.

The SVOLT Thailand factory, a joint venture between SVOLT Energy Technology (Thailand) Ltd., a subsidiary of SVOLT Energy, and Banpu NEXT, a subsidiary of international energy giant Banpu, focuses on various sectors such as automotive power batteries, 2/3-wheeler batteries, energy storage, and battery recycling. Since the official groundbreaking of the project in July of this year, the factory has transformed and upgraded within a short span of five months, achieving the transition from factory renovations to product rollouts.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
