Lithium carbonate futures review by SMM: LC2401 main contract continues to fall, with a decrease of 2.45%. On December 20th, the main contract of lithium carbonate 2401 continued to decline, with a decrease of 2.45%. According to data, the main contract of lithium carbonate 2401 opened at 99,500 yuan/ton and closed at 97,500 yuan/ton, with a trading volume of 8,123 contracts and an open interest of 26,757 contracts, a decrease of 3,695 contracts from the previous trading day. SMM's battery-grade lithium carbonate spot price for the day was 96,000-106,000 yuan/ton, with an average price of 101,000 yuan/ton, a decrease of 1,000 yuan/ton compared to the previous working day. The main contract 2401 opened slightly lower, rose to a high of 100,950 yuan/ton, and then fell back, followed by a steady operation. After the midday opening, it continued to fluctuate downward, eventually falling by 2.45%.

Tozero Launches Industrial Demo Plant to Recover Lithium from Waste Batteries

German company, Tozero, announced on March 27 (local time) the official launch of its industrial-scale demonstration plant. The company has built a facility at the Gendorf chemical park in Bavaria, Germany, capable of processing more than 1,500 tons of waste batteries annually. The process enables the recovery of lithium carbonate, graphite, and nickel-cobalt mixtures from spent batteries for reuse as battery raw materials. The plant is expected to recycle resources equivalent to batteries from approximately 6,000 electric vehicles per year, reducing reliance on landfill disposal.
