China's lithium battery separator output hit 1.259 billion square meters in November 2023, down 5% MoM but up 2% YoY.

Demand-side, the battery cell market is declining, led by energy storage, with a steady but falling trend in the EV market. Consequently, many smaller battery cell firms have cut their production plans, slashing upstream battery separator orders by over 20% in some instances. Top battery cell firms, even with stockpiled cells and separators, face falling orders. Near-term battery separator demand looks weak. SMM predicts China's December lithium battery separator production will hit 1.179 billion square meters, dropping 6% both MoM and YoY.

Approximately $1.4 billion! India plans 130 billion rupee battery component incentive program
Recently, according to India's Business Standard, the Indian government is formulating an advanced battery component incentive program totaling approximately 130 billion rupees (about $1.4 billion). The program's incentive scope covers key battery cell components, including cathode and anode active materials, electrolyte, separators, and copper foil. According to sources familiar with the matter, the program has completed inter-ministerial consultations and is about to be submitted to the Ministry of Finance's Expenditure Finance Committee for approval.

August Oxide Electrolyte Analysis: How Does the "Solid-Liquid Hybrid Main Engine" Perform Amid Price Divergence?
In August 2026, oxide electrolytes continued their role as the "main engine for solid-liquid hybrid batteries." LATP prices dropped to just over RMB 90/kg, while LLZO held steady at RMB 638/kg. Unlike sulfide electrolytes, which saw record-high production but a meager capacity utilization rate of just 5.82%, the oxide route。
