Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On December 15, BYD officially put its latest B-segment SUV, the Song L, onto the market. The Song L comes with four rear-wheel-drive variants and one all-wheel-drive version, with an official price range of 189,800 yuan to 249,800 yuan. Notably, this marks a 30,200 yuan reduction from the pre-sale prices previously announced.

As the latest addition to BYD's Dynasty range, the Song L, rides on the e-Platform 3.0. The exterior showcases BYD's new-generation "Avant-garde Dragon Aesthetic" design language. The front fascia exhibits a sleek and sporty appearance, with headlights resembling "dragon whiskers" on both sides seamlessly integrating with the flowing light and exuding a sense of sophistication. The finishing touch to the front profile is the presence of two "dragon teeth" beside the front bumper.

With its cross-genre styling, low-slung posture, and distinctive features like a sloping C-pillar, the Song L presents a dynamic and poised stance, setting it apart in its segment.

In terms of dimensions, the Song L measures 4,840/1,950/1,560mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2,930mm—making it notably larger than counterparts like the Tesla Model Y and the XPeng G6.

The rear design of the Song L adds a multi-layered sense with its through-type taillight cluster, which incorporates Chinese knot elements. The presence of a rear wing, high-mounted brake light, and 20-inch pentagonal spoke wheels further emphasizes its sporty characteristics.

Noteworthy is the Song L's inclusion of sporty features such as frameless doors, drag-lift electric tail, active intake grille, and a floating-type spoiler, enhancing its dynamic appeal.

For color customization, consumers can choose from five options, catering to diverse individual preferences.

Regarding the interior, the Song L provides three color options—White Sands, Danxia Sunrise, and Wilderness Starry Sky.

Inside, the Song L boasts BYD's iconic design language, equipped with a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument panel and a 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen. It features BYD's new-generation DiLink infotainment system, boasting a 6nm 5G chip, full-scenario intelligent voice control, and functions such as four-zone wake-up recognition, in-car KTV, and facial recognition, significantly enhancing its intelligent capabilities.

Reflecting a sporty ambiance, the interior design incorporates a flat-bottomed multifunctional steering wheel, crystal-cut electronic shift mechanism, and sporty seats adorned with yellow accents and the Chinese character "宋" lettering on the headrests.

In terms of configurations, the Song L is equipped with multiple premium features like a 50-inch AR-HUD, double-layer laminated glass, rear-window privacy glass, double-layer silver-plated panoramic sunroof, active fragrance system, 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system, immersive intelligent multi-color ambient lighting, metal welcome pedals, heated steering wheel, ventilated and heated front seats, lumbar massage, seat memory, 11 safety airbags, 50W wireless phone charging, and a dashcam.

Besides, the BYD Song L carries the DiPilot intelligent driving assistance system that encompasses 23 high-precision sensors, including 6 cameras, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 5 millimeter-wave radars, supporting various functions like lane-changing assistance, lane centering assistance, automatic parking, and remote parking.

Regarding power, the Song L offers a choice between single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive systems. The rear-wheel-drive models, further divided into high and low-power variants, are equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with maximum powers of 150kW and 230kW, and peak torques of 310 N·m and 360 N·m, achieving 0-100km/h acceleration times of 8.6 seconds and 6.9 seconds, respectively.

The all-wheel-drive model employs a front asynchronous motor and a rear permanent magnet synchronous motor which adopts SiC technology, with a combined power of 380kW, peak torque reaching 670 N·m, and an official 0-100km/h acceleration time of 4.3 seconds.

As for range, the rear-wheel-drive models offer optional LFP battery packs with capacities of 71.8kWh and 87.04kWh, corresponding to pure electric ranges of 550km and 662km under CLTC conditions. The all-wheel-drive trim comes with an 87.04kWh LFP battery pack, which provides a CLTC-rated range of 602km. Additionally, the Song L supports 140kW DC fast charging and 6kW V2L (vehicle-to-load) function.

For the chassis, the Song L adopts a double-wishbone independent suspension and a five-link independent suspension, combined with cutting-edge technologies like the DiSus C system, the iTAC (intelligence torque adaption control) system, and the IPB (integrated power brake) system, ensuring a millisecond-level damping adjustment speed for an optimal balance between handling and comfort.
