Beijing (Gasgoo)- On December 14, the all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Long-Wheelbase (LWB) version officially hit the market in China, offering six variants with prices ranging from 449,000 yuan to 559,800 yuan.

Dimensionally, the new model measures 5,092 mm in length, 1,880mm in width, 1,493mm in height, with a 3,094mm wheelbase. Compared to its predecessor, this 11th-generation E-Class LWB model exhibits a 15mm longer wheelbase and a 14mm increase in overall length.

Internally, the new E-Class LWB adopts a "2+1" screen layout akin to the EQS. It features a separate instrument screen for driver information, along with a 14.4-inch central display and a 12.3-inch passenger screen, both covered by a single glass panel, seamlessly blending with the dashboard for a tech-forward aesthetic. Moreover, it incorporates the third-generation MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) intelligent human-machine interaction system, utilizing the 8295 intelligent cockpit chips.

The E-Class is the pioneering Mercedes model equipped with the third-generation MBUX system. Its zero-level menu conveniently displays air conditioning, media, Bluetooth, and navigation on the desktop for user-friendly access. Additionally, the enhanced voice assistant, known as the "Mind Reading Voice Assistant," enables millisecond-level responses with wake-free interaction across various scenarios, recognizing and promptly responding to deeper commands such as "open vehicle settings" or "turn off the head-up display."

Regarding intelligent driving features, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class offers L2+ navigation-assisted driving functions, covering highways and city expressways. It boasts capabilities for point-to-point navigation assistance on highways, automatic lane changes, and distance control from larger vehicles under L2+ driving functionalities. Moreover, automatic on-ramp and off-ramp driving will debut in 2024.

[Solid-State Battery Rumor Refuted: CATARC's Wang Fang Says No Compliance Determination Was Made on Solid-State Battery Enterprises] On September 4, 2026, Wang Fang, Chief Scientist at the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC), clarified recent rumors at the "2026 World Power Battery Conference": CATARC has not conducted any determination on solid-state battery enterprises, and the related rumors are "false information." Recently, there were market reports claiming that CATARC, based on the national standard GB/T 43568-2026 "Solid-State Batteries for Electric Vehicles – Part 1: Terminology and Classification," which took effect in July this year, conducted determinations on more than 320 enterprises involved in solid-state batteries, with only 9 ultimately passing all compliance items in full.

[Solid-state battery: sulphide electrolyte production 70 mt, January-August]
[Solid-state battery: Sulphide electrolyte production 70 mt in January-August] From January to August 2026, China's cumulative sulphide electrolyte production reached 70 mt, up 119.7% YoY, already surpassing the full-year 2025 total (58.29 mt). However, this impressive growth masks three harsh realities: ① Only 19.6% of the annual forecast target (360 mt) has been achieved; ② The capacity utilization rate in August was just 5.82%, with capacity severely idling; ③ Product prices continued to plummet (LPSC fell over 24% in a single month). Q4 average monthly production will most likely land in the 11.5-13 mt range, with a full-year total of approximately 118-121 mt, representing a "solid climb." Annual forecast of 360 mt, with only 70 mt completed in the first eight months: the gap between the "mild ramp-up" of China's sulphide electrolyte and reality.
