Beijing (Gasgoo)- On December 14, after a month of reliability and stability testing, WeRide's autonomous driving mini-bus (Robobus) commenced its inaugural passenger-filled journey from Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport to the airport food court.

This launch signifies the formal opening of the first passenger-carrying autonomous driving demonstration route in Qingdao's Jiaodong Airport Economic Demonstration Zone, the Qingdao Jiaozhou Intelligent Connected Vehicle Demonstration Zone, and the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area.

WeRide, in collaboration with local partners, deployed several Robobuses for the "Jiaodong International Airport - Qingdao Airport Food Court" autonomous microcirculation shuttle loop. Covering 8.2 kilometers, this route offers diverse, efficient, and futuristic travel services, aiding travelers in airport transit and dining convenience.

WeRide's Robobus, the world's first mass-produced L4 autonomous microcirculation shuttle, integrates a self-developed full-stack hardware and software solution. Capable of safely navigating complex urban traffic scenarios with 360-degree perception, it can detect obstacles within 200 meters, providing round-the-clock, all-scenario urban shuttle services. Presently, WeRide’s Robobuses are conducting road tests and operations in 19 cities globally, including Guangzhou, Beijing, Wuxi, Nanjing, and Abu Dhabi.
