SES AI Corp. Advances Next-Generation Lithium Metal Batteries for Electric Vehicles and UAM Vehicles at Battery World 2023

Supported by multiple global car manufacturers such as General Motors and Hyundai, high-performance battery manufacturer SES AI Corp. has taken another step in developing the next generation of lithium metal batteries. Lithium metal batteries are known as game-changers for electric vehicles due to their high energy density.

On December 13, at the "Battery World 2023" online conference held in South Korea, the US-based startup also announced plans to launch lithium metal batteries (LMB) for urban air mobility (UAM) vehicles, commonly known as flying cars.

CATL Chairman Zeng Yuqun, in a video address to the 2026 World Power Battery Conference, said that in H1 this year, China's NEV sales exceeded 7.4 million units, with over 600 new models launched, averaging nearly three per day.
