Beijing (Gasgoo)- Chinese new energy vehicle manufacturer Li Auto held an intelligent software release conference on December 10, marking the official launch of its latest OTA 5.0 software version.

This comprehensive update comprises three major software upgrades, spanning Intelligent driving (AD Max 3.0), smart space (SS 3.0), and intelligent extended range system (REV 3.0).

Under the OTA 5.0, significant enhancements have been made, especially in intelligent driving. The version’s restructured algorithm model evolves from a modularized structure of multiple small models and human-made rules to an end-to-end architecture dominated by large models, elevating Li Auto's intelligent driving system to AD 3.0.

The Max versions of Li Auto’s L series model will be the first to adopt the AD Max 3.0, enabling comprehensive applications in intelligent driving scenarios, assisting in parking, and ensuring active safety.

Of noteworthy mention is the full-scenario intelligent driving capability, covering highways, urban ring roads, and city streets. This functionality supports lane changes, speed control based on road limits, maneuvering around construction sites, navigating congested lanes, urban intersection driving, and alternate route selection. Li Auto disclosed a list of 110 cities for the full-scenario intelligent driving experience at the conference.

The AD Max 3.0's parking capabilities have been significantly augmented, not only optimizing Automatic Parking Assist (APA) and Automated Valet Parking (AVP) but also introducing Remote Parking Assist (RPA), enabling users to park their vehicles via smartphones upon exiting. Valet parking now supports parking in a structure across up to 10 levels.

The active safety aspect empowered by the BEV large model algorithm ensures AEB functionality at speeds ranging from 4 to 135 kilometers per hour, said Li Auto. The AD Max 3.0 exhibits impressive stopping capabilities at various speeds, ensuring pedestrian and stationary vehicle safety.

Moreover, Li Auto's self-developed multimodal cognitive large model, Mind GPT, underpins the Smart Space 3.0 (“SS 3.0”). Its multifaceted capabilities offer various roles to the vehicle's AI assistant, including travel and entertainment assistance. Mind GPT has been customized with over 1,000 abilities across 111 domains for household user-centric scenarios. SS 3.0 also introduces always-on voice command capability and the freedom to issue multiple commands within a single sentence.

The intelligent range extender system, REV 3.0, has significantly improved battery estimation accuracy and increased maximum discharge capacity by 4.1%, resulting in a 15%-20% increase in winter pure-electric range for L series vehicles post OTA 5.0 upgrade.

Li Auto's roadmap schedules a comprehensive rollout of the OTA 5.0 for the L series models starting December 19, 2023. Max, Pro, and Air variants will synchronize their upgrades for SS 3.0 and REV 3.0 in December, while Max models will embrace the AD Max 3.0 upgrade this month. Pro and Air models are set to receive AD Pro 3.0 upgrades in June 2024.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
