Beijing (Gasgoo)- At the re:Invent 2023 learning conference hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS), AWS announced its collaboration with BYD, a leading global manufacturer of new energy vehicles, marking Amazon as BYD's cloud services provider.

This partnership seeks to expedite the expansion of their global operations, particularly in the field of vehicle connectivity.

BYD, renowned for its global presence across 70+ countries, 400+ cities, and serving over 6 million vehicle owners, has embraced AWS to fortify its operations. Leveraging Amazon's scalable, secure infrastructure, including Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) for vehicle system data storage, BYD aims to enhance durability, availability, scalability, and security.

Through Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) and Amazon CloudFront, BYD has crafted an intricate connected vehicle platform. This platform facilitates seamless deployment of new features and applications, offering cutting-edge in-car navigation or entertainment services in real-time, delivering high-performance and interactive in-car experiences for drivers and passengers.

Amazon's suite of services enables BYD to offer personalized driving and in-car entertainment experiences. Features like multilingual voice controls enable users to personalize their operations, managing in-car settings like temperature or music playback. Remote vehicle control, allowing pre-starting the air conditioning, ensures a comfortable journey.

Utilizing Amazon Web Services, BYD ensures continuous updates to its connected vehicle platform, enhancing global vehicle safety, operability, maintenance efficiency, and overall driving experience. Users can monitor their vehicle status, battery levels, mileage, and perform remote locking or tracking via the BYD application, enhancing safety and convenience.

Moreover, Amazon supports BYD's immersive in-car experience by integrating Amazon Music into its intelligent connected vehicles in the European market, offering high-quality music streaming. This feature, already integrated into the latest BYD SEAL showcased at IAA MOBILITY 2023, will be expanded wirelessly to more European models for an enriched driving experience.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
