Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On the morning of December 7, the first battery product from NVGOTION, a joint venture of Gotion High-tech in Thailand, officially rolled off the production line at the Siam Eastern Industrial Park in Rayong, Thailand. This marks the commencement of Gotion High-tech's "Made in Thailand" initiative.

At approximately 10 a.m. that day, as two Thai workers tightened the last two screws, Gotion High-tech’s inaugural locally produced battery pack in Thailand completed all assembly processes and officially came off the line. This lithium iron phosphate battery pack boasts a capacity of 38 kWh, providing a range of up to 400 kilometers, meeting the mainstream battery requirements for A-segment vehicles in the Thai new energy vehicle market.

NVGOTION's Marketing Director, Yu Qiang, highlighted that the first battery pack from Gotion High-tech in Thailand demonstrates impressive performance and economic advantages in the Thai market. It has been officially designated for NETA Auto's cars, with mass deliveries expected in the first quarter of the coming year.

Sun Xiyi, CEO of NVGOTION, revealed that the battery pack production capacity of the Thai factory's Phase One is planned at 2 GWh per year, with future expansion up to 8 GWh per year based on market demand. Data indicates that in the first three quarters of this year, Thailand's new energy vehicle registrations exceeded 50,000 units, a remarkable 7.6 times increase compared to the same period last year, showcasing immense market potential. Additionally, Gotion High-tech has strategically partnered with HOZON Auto in 2023, securing designated orders for multiple NETA-branded vehicle models.

NVGOTION is the joint venture between China's leading power battery company Gotion High-tech and Thailand's new energy solution provider Nuovo Plus. Nuovo Plus is primarily engaged in battery-related business and battery industry chain investments, operating under the umbrella of Thailand's PTT Group, the largest state-owned energy and petrochemical company in Thailand.

Li Zhen, Chairman of Gotion High-tech, emphasized that the shift towards a new energy revolution, centered around "solar energy, wind energy + energy storage," has opened up vast opportunities in the new energy industry. The successful and rapid construction of the joint venture factory in Thailand over the course of 11 months culminated in the timely commencement of production. The launch of the first locally manufactured battery pack signifies the fruitful outcome of the collaboration and marks a significant milestone in Gotion High-tech's global expansion efforts, contributing to Thailand's emergence as a leader in the ASEAN battery market.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
