Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The global auto parts giant Bosch and the authority of the Suzhou Industrial Park inked an agreement on December 6, further solidifying their industrial collaboration and underlining Bosch's commitment to increasing its investment in the region, according to a post on the WeChat account of the Suzhou Industrial Park.

As a global leader in automotive technology supply, Bosch has been strategically investing in China's Suzhou city since 1999. In March of this year, Bosch broke ground on a new energy vehicle core components and autonomous driving R&D and manufacturing facility in the city, with a substantial investment of $1 billion.

The new R&D and manufacturing base has a total floor area of over 70,000 square meters for the first phase, consisting of four buildings, including a 66,000-square-meter production workshop, a 3,200-square-meter energy center, a 400-square-meter warehouse, and a 1,700-square-meter security zone.

With the recent signing of this agreement, Bosch is poised to elevate its commitment by expanding investments to foster localized R&D and production, setting high standards for the establishment of a new intelligent manufacturing base. The project is anticipated to commence trial production in September 2024, with full-scale production slated for early 2025.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
