India's largest shipbuilding and maintenance facility, Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL), has been contracted by the global logistics company Samskip Group, headquartered in Rotterdam, to build two short-sea feeder container vessels, for which they have ordered 2 × 2 units of MAN 12V175D-MEV variable-speed generator sets.

As part of the SeaShuttle project, these vessels will be the world's first of their kind to be equipped with a 3.2 MW hydrogen fuel cell power system. Florian Keiler, Head of High-Speed Engine at MAN Energy Solutions, stated: "This is a pioneering project that sets new standards for environmentally friendly shipping. Our engines are capable of using biofuels such as MGO, HVO, and B100, showcasing our green credentials in decarbonization."
