BYD’s Jan.-Nov. sales in 2023 surge 64.29% over year-ago period

For the first 11 months of 2023, BYD sold a total of 2,683,374 vehicles, representing a 64.29% year-on-year surge.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD Company Limited, the prominent Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker, announced on Dec. 1 that its monthly sales reached 301,903 units in October 2023, leaping 31.02% from the previous month, while basically remaining flat over the previous month.

For the first 11 months of 2023, BYD sold a total of 2,683,374 vehicles, representing a 64.29% year-on-year surge. It indicates that the company should sell 316,626 vehicles in this year's last month to achieve its 3-million-unit annual sales target.

Of the vehicles it sold last month, 301,378 units were contributed by passenger vehicles (PVs). In the PV sector, there were 170,150 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sold in the month, reflecting a year-on-year surge of 49.37%. Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) segment recorded a monthly sales volume of 131,228 units, which grew 13.1% from a year earlier.

Besides, BYD sold 525 new energy commercial vehicles (CVs) in November, versus the 485 units of sales recorded in the year-ago period.

As for the performance of each product segments, BYD said the combined sales of its Dynasty and Ocean series amounted to 288,501 units last month, jumping 27.4% year over year. In addition, DENZA, the premium brand majority-backed by BYD, logged a sales volume of 11,843 units (+243.2% YoY) in the same month.

Notably, another two premium brands under BYD, Yangwang and FANG CHENG BAO, sold 408 and 626 vehicles, respectively, in Nov.

Moreover, BYD also announced a monthly PV export volume of 30,629 units in the same month, which zoomed up 148.7% from a year earlier.
