Türkiye Accelerates 33 GW Battery Storage Pipeline to Strengthen Renewable Energy Transition
Türkiye is rapidly scaling up its battery energy storage sector, with over 33 GW of wind and solar projects integrated with storage already approved under recent policy support introduced in 2022.
The strategy supports Türkiye’s long-term goal of raising renewable energy’s share above 50% by 2035 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2053. Most projects are expected to adopt lithium-ion technology with defined storage requirements to improve grid stability. As projects begin transitioning from approval to construction and operation, Türkiye is emerging as a significant hub for hybrid renewable-plus-storage development.
