Indonesia's Jakarta - Harita Nickel Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Director Tonny Gultom stated that Harita Nickel (PT Trimegah Bangun Persada Tbk/NCKL) is currently expanding the downstream development of laterite (high grade nickel) into nickel iron.
According to him, the development scale of laterite processing into nickel iron is over 2 million tons per year. "The planned capacity is expected to reach 2-3 million tons per year," he said. In addition, he also explained that Harita Nickel's expansion also meets long-term demand by opening two new nickel reserves, which are located near the industrial area operated by the company and are easier to utilize. This is to support the accelerated development of Indonesia's electric vehicle ecosystem.
