According to the latest report released by energy think tank Ember, India's solar power generation growth (+26%, +12 TWh) is higher than the global average growth rate (+16%), and India's contribution to global solar power growth is 12%, similar to the EU. In the first half of 2023, 7.1% of India's electricity came from solar energy. The report pointed out that the growth of renewable energy in India, under the condition of mild demand growth, led to slow growth of coal-fired power generation. Therefore, in the first half of 2023, the emissions of India's power sector increased by 3.7% (+19 million tons of CO2), less than half of the increase in the first half of 2022 (+9.7%, +45 million tons of carbon dioxide). In India, the growth of wind and solar energy in the first half of 2023 prevented an increase of 11 million tons of emissions. (Polaris Solar Photovoltaic Network)
