Russian Aluminium (Rusal), one of the world's largest aluminium producers, produced 3.8 million tonnes of aluminium in 2022, with the Krasnoyarsk smelter producing 1 million tonnes, making it the largest smelter in Russia by production capacity. On Wednesday, Rusal said that production at the Krasnoyarsk smelter was unaffected after a transformer fire, "the team managed to eliminate the impact of the fire on the production process in record time," Rusal told Reuters, adding that the smelter was operating normally.
