From January 1, 2024, France will introduce strict new standards for electric vehicle subsidies to reduce the market share of cars produced outside the EU.
Recently, the French Ministry of Economy and Finance stated that the new standard will quantify the carbon emissions generated by electric vehicles during the production and transportation process by country of origin. All Asian car companies, including Korean electric cars, will be affected by the new standards.
US media Politico quoted French authorities as saying, “Starting next year, most electric vehicles produced in Asia are likely to be excluded from France’s electric vehicle purchase subsidy program because the French government is imposing restrictions on Chinese-made electric vehicles.”
