Lithium Carbonate Price Keep Falling Amid Slack Pre-Holiday Stocking

SHANGHAI, Sep 25 (SMM) – The SMM battery-grade lithium carbonate index was 174,856 yuan/mt today, a decrease of 1,029 yuan/mt from the previous working day. Battery-grade lithium carbonate price range was 163,000-179,000 yuan/mt, a decrease of 1,000 yuan/mt from the previous working day; industrial-grade lithium carbonate price range was 152,000-164,000 yuan/mt, a decrease of 1,500 yuan/mt. Some smelters became unwilling to cut offers further as persistent price drop have incurred losses on them. Even as National Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival approach, downstream cathode producers mostly adopted a wait-and-see approach, barely making massive purchases. Some lithium salt plants got caught in a stalemate in price negotiations with downstream companies, allowing the decline in lithium carbonate price to slow down.
