China's Lithium Carbonate Imports Fell On Both MoM and YoY Basis in August

SHANGHAI, Sep 21 (SMM) – In August 2023, China's lithium carbonate imports were 10,843 mt, a decrease of 16% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 4%.

SHANGHAI, Sep 21 (SMM) – In August 2023, China's lithium carbonate imports were 10,843 mt, a decrease of 16% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 4%. Broken down by sources of imports, imports from Chile decreased by 24% month-on-month, while those from Argentina increased by 53% month-on-month. In terms of average import price, in August 2023, China's average import price of lithium carbonate was $35,965/mt, an increase of 4% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 51%. Among them, the average price of lithium carbonate imported from Chile was $37,138/mt, an increase of 7% from July. Splitting the import data into the recipients, 68% went to Shanghai, 10% to Jiangsu, 9% to Fujian, and 6% to Hunan. From January to August 2023, China's cumulative import volume of lithium carbonate was 96,718 mt, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 5%.
