China Passenger Car Association: Commercial Vehicle Sales In August Were 240,000 Units, Down 17% YoY

On September 19, Cui Dongshu of the China Passenger Car Association issued a document saying that domestic sales of commercial vehicles from January to August this year reached 1.88 million units due to a low base, a year-on-year increase of 3%, of which commercial vehicle sales in August were 240,000 units, down 17% YoY.

On September 19, Cui Dongshu of the China Passenger Car Association issued a document saying that domestic sales of commercial vehicles from January to August this year reached 1.88 million units due to a low base, a year-on-year increase of 3%, of which commercial vehicle sales in August were 240,000 units, down 17% YoY. From January to August this year, new energy commercial vehicle sales accounted for 8.4% of total commercial vehicle sales, achieving acceptable growth compared to last year. New energy sales accounted for 12.9% of the total in August, an increase of 4 percentage points compared to last year’s 8.9%, indicating a relatively strong performance.

Under the policy, a total of 14 critical minerals—including lithium, graphite, nickel, cobalt, manganese, copper, zinc, and rare earth elements such as lanthanum, cerium, neodymium, terbium, dysprosium, yttrium, and scandium—will be eligible for duty exemption when brought into the country. The regulation is set to take effect on April 3.
