







Data from the National Bureau of Statistics show that in August 2023, China’s average daily crude steel output was 2.7874 million mt, a decrease of 4.8% MoM. The average daily output of pig iron was 2.4071 million mt, a decrease of 3.8% MoM. The average daily output of steel was 3.7587 million mt, flat with last month.
In August, China’s crude steel output was 86.41 million mt, a year-on-year increase of 3.2%, pig iron output was 74.62 million mt, a year-on-year increase of 4.8%, and steel output was 116.52 million mt, a year-on-year increase of 11.4%.
From January to August, China’s crude steel output was 712.93 million mt, up 2.6% YoY, pig iron output was 603.59 million mt, up 3.7% YoY, and steel output was 909.2 million mt, up 6.3% YoY.
