SHANGHAI, Sep 11 (SMM) –Lepidolite price drop slowed in the week ending September 7. Environmental concerns kept Jiangxi's output below expectations, forcing some mines to cut production again. With tepid demand for lithium carbonate this September, prices kept dipping. Some lithium salt factories turned to outsourcing for stable profits. Short-term lepidolite prices are expected to stay low.
Spodumene prices dipped in the week ending September 7. Australian spodumene prices now exceed domestic factories' tolerance, leading to more long-term orders and fewer spot deals. Due to low lithium prices and high hidden costs, some African mines cut production. Import traders also scaled back due to high stockholding costs and low downstream quotes. Domestic traders also offered spot goods at lower prices, widening the price gap between imported and domestic transactions. A minor decline in spodumene prices is expected in the short term.
