According to SMM research, as of this Friday (August 25th), the total inventory of SMM zinc ingots in seven places was 81,500 tons, down 17,800 tons from last Friday (August 18th) and down 12,300 tons from this Monday (August 21st), indicating a decrease in domestic inventory. This week continued to deplete the inventory, mainly due to the fact that downstream enterprises priced at low levels in the early stage and picked up the goods this week, and on the other hand, the water level in North China was high, and there was cross-regional circulation of Shanghai and Guangdong sources, with a large amount of goods in transit. It is expected that some smelters in the north have resumed production, and railway transportation has gradually resumed. In addition, with the opening of the import window, the inflow of imported zinc ingots will increase, and it is expected that the inventory will accumulate. Overall, SMM three places inventory year-on-year decreased 13,700 tons, seven places inventory year-on-year decreased 12,300 tons.

ACG’s Gediktepe Sulphide Expansion Produces First Copper and Zinc Concentrates; Full Production Targeted by End-2026
ACG Metals announced on September 1 that its Gediktepe mine in Türkiye produced its first copper concentrate on August 31, marking the start of the ramp-up phase. The company will progressively increase throughput and optimise plant performance, targeting full production by the end of 2026. Gediktepe’s steady-state annual production target is 20,000–25,000 tonnes of copper equivalent. The full announcement also confirmed that the mine produced its first zinc concentrate in August 2026, although the specific date and volumes were not disclosed. SMM estimates the mine’s zinc-in-concentrate production at approximately 10,000–15,000 tonnes of contained zinc in 2026.
