According to SMM research, all the mines and smelters in Wa State, regardless of size, have been shut down at 0:00 on August 1, 2023. At the same time, the operation of ore transport vehicles in the local area was prohibited to prevent the transportation of ore from the mined mines to the smelters. The Ministry of Finance also set up a working group to conduct mine inspections and strictly enforce the shutdown. At present, the various departments have not received specific notifications from the Wa State Central Government about the duration of the shutdown. Judging from the current situation, it will take at least 1-3 months to prepare for the normal production of the mines after the shutdown. At present, Wa State mines have reported to the Wa State government that about 2 million physical tons of ore have been mined, and it is estimated that 5,000-6,000 metal tons of tin ore can be selected, but the smelters have stopped working and it is no longer possible to select and sell concentrate products.
