National Development and Reform Commission: Support to meet the rigid and improved housing demand, promote the transformation of urban villages in megacities

The General Office of the State Council forwarded the notice of the National Development and Reform Commission on measures to restore and expand consumption, which included content on supporting rigid and improved housing needs. The government will ensure the delivery of housing, people’s well-being, and stability, improve the basic housing security system and supporting policies, expand the supply of low-income rental housing, and strive to solve the housing problems of new citizens, young people, and other groups with housing difficulties. The government will also steadily promote the renovation of old residential areas, further attach importance to the special housing maintenance funds in old residential renovation and elevator renewal in these areas, and continue to support residents in old urban areas to withdraw housing provident funds for the renovation of self-occupied housing such as the installation of elevators. The government will actively and steadily promote the transformation of urban villages into megacities. Other measures also include promoting the quality and safety of rural housing projects, implementing the renovation of dilapidated rural houses, supporting the seismic renovation of rural houses in fortified areas of 7 degrees or above, encouraging the simultaneous implementation of energy-saving renovation and quality improvement of rural housing, and improving the living conditions of rural residents.
