According to foreign media reports, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has landed in China in his private jet.
This is his first visit to China after three years. As in 2020, he will also visit the company's gigafactory in Shanghai's Lingang new area, two of the sources said.
On January 7, 2020, Musk participated in the launching ceremony of the Shanghai Super Factory. Since then, sales of Tesla's electric vehicles have climbed steadily, and Shanghai has become Tesla's largest production base.
As Tesla's largest factory in the world, the Shanghai Gigafactory produced about 726,000 Model 3 and Model Y in 2022, accounting for more than half of Tesla's global sales. According to data from the China Passenger Car Association showed Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory delivered 75,842 vehicles in April this year, surpassing Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi.
In addition, the Shanghai factory also delivered cars to Tesla’s overseas market, and the company confirmed last week that it completed the first shipment from the Shanghai factory to Canada.
