The prices of photovoltaic glass for May were released. The prices offered by leading and second-tier enterprises remained stable with the mainstream transaction prices of 3.2mm photovoltaic glass stabilising at 25.5-26.5 yuan/square meter. The prices of 2.0mm photovoltaic glass stood at 18.0-19.0 yuan/square meter.

SHANGHAI, May 8 (SMM) - The prices of photovoltaic glass for May were released.

In terms of demand, the demand for photovoltaic glass weakened slightly at the end of April, and the transactions decreased compared with the beginning of April as module companies only purchased as needed. As such, the inventory of PV glass enterprises increased.

According to SMM, the inventory days of a second-tier enterprise increased from 12 days in mid-April to 14 days up to date. The inventory days of leading enterprises increased by 2 days to about 12 days, and the inventory days of some third-tier enterprises exceeded 20 days.

In terms of supply, without the new capacity commissioned, the average operating rate of PV glass producers remained at about 70%, and the output of photovoltaic glass in April will be about 2 million mt.

The photovoltaic glass is in a slight supply surplus as some module enterprises purchased only as needed amid the falling demand. Under the pressure caused by steady supply growth and weak downstream demand, the inventory is rising slowly. But the increase is expected to be limited due to the high planned production of module enterprises.

It is understood that the National Energy Administration has officially approved the power source allocation plan for the "Qaidam Desert Base (East Golmud) Base". The planned construction scale of the power source projects at this base is 17.44 million kilowatts, including 10 million kilowatts of photovoltaic power, 5 million kilowatts of wind power, 2.64 million kilowatts of coal-fired power, 0.1 million kilowatts of solar thermal power, and 1.5 million kilowatts (for 4 hours) of electrochemical energy storage. The total investment in the projects is about 86 billion yuan. The new energy will be transmitted to Guangxi through the "Qinghai-Guangxi DC" UHV power transmission project. Currently, significant progress has been made in the preliminary work of the "Qinghai-Guangxi DC" project, w

[SMM PV News] Armenia Hits 1.1 GW Solar Capacity,
Armenia’s cumulative solar capacity has surged to 1.1 GW following the addition of approximately 615 MW in 2025. This rapid expansion has pushed solar's share of electricity generation to around 15%, effectively meeting the country's 2030 target years ahead of schedule. The growth is heavily driven by a net-metering scheme supporting over 50,000 autonomous producers (totaling 650 MW), though the government ended loan subsidies for rooftop solar in July to shift focus toward battery storage.
