According to Clarkson, on April 28, the Clarkson Newbuilding Price Index recorded 167.33, rising for 13 consecutive weeks, mainly driven by a slight increase in the prices of crude oil tankers, gas tankers, and medium and large container ships.

According to Clarkson, on April 28, the Clarkson Newbuilding Price Index recorded 167.33, rising for 13 consecutive weeks, mainly driven by a slight increase in the prices of crude oil tankers, gas tankers, and medium and large container ships.

The index is up 3% from the beginning of this year and 33% from the beginning of 2021, reaching its highest level since February 2009.

Since the start of 2023, oil tanker orders have totalled 117 or 7.43 million deadweight tons, which has reached 81% of the annual oil tanker orders in 2022 in terms of deadweight tons.
