Spot quotes in north China inched higher last week. Spot copper was quoted with discounts of 260-20 yuan/mt, or an average discount of 140 yuan/mt last Friday, up 40 yuan/mt from two Fridays ago.
The spot quotes rose in the middle of the week due to falling copper prices and active downstream stockpiling ahead of Labour Day holidays.
Copper prices rebounded at the end of the week, but spot quotes did not fall last Friday. There are only two days of trading this week for downstream buyers to restock cargoes. Spot quotes will rise slightly.
