In 2021, global inverter shipments were 210.4 GW, including 170 GW shipments from domestic inverter companies. The shipments of the two leading inverter producers Huawei and Sungrow, were 52 GW and 47 GW respectively. Other domestic leading companies include Gurui Watt, Jinlang Technology, GoodWe and SINENG.
In 2022, global inverter shipments were 290 GW, up 37.36% from 2021. China’s inverter companies shipped nearly 235 GW, a year-on-year increase of 38%. Huawei and Sungrow remained as leading companies.
The serious shortage of IGBT last year led to serious delays in the delivery of ground models and industrial and commercial high-power models. Some shipments were even delayed for a month or two. At the same time, the price of IGBTS rose by 10-20% at the beginning and middle of the year. This had a great impact on inverter companies. It is understood that the shipments of first-tier companies have basically increased by 20% year-on-year. Shipments by head companies have increased by 60% year-on-year, and there were second- and third-tier companies doubling their shipments. There were also companies that reported a decline in shipments due to chip shortages. Many inverter companies aim to double their shipments this year. The goal of leading companies is to reach 120 gw-130 GW, and the shipments of other first-tier companies are also targeting at least 50% growth.
This year, first-tier inverter companies have plans to increase capital and expand production, and will also launch new products, such as the launch of TBEA’s high-power models. Many companies have rolled out models exceeding 300kw. The capacity utilisation rate of inverter companies is also very high. For example, the capacity utilisation rate of Ginlong reached 200%. The supply and production capacity of inverters recovered quickly. Last year, there was a serious shortage of 110 KW models, but the overall situation has eased in the first quarter of this year. The orders at inverter companies are brisk currently, including both outstanding orders scheduled last year and new orders. There is no shortage of the inverter supply as the production capacity of 110 KW models is high. The delivery of the main 50 KW model is also very stable.
