In the second quarter, a number of large-scale polysilicon projects will be put into operation, and the output will increase significantly in April and May as the production capacity ramps up.
These include a number of major projects in Xinjiang, Sichuan, and Inner Mongolia, with a total production capacity of 318,000 mt. The domestic polysilicon supply is expected to increase significantly to around 350,000 mt in the second quarter.
However, production reductions are likely to occur in the second half of the second quarter.
The main reason is that the current water level in west China is relatively low. Possible power rationing during the low-water period this year combined with concentrated maintenance will slow the output growth. Then the supply will be less than expected.
