Guangdong has been the largest province in China in terms of GDP for more than 30 consecutive years, backed by highly influential financial institutions such as the Shenzhen Stock Exchange and the Guangzhou Futures Exchange.

According to the data of the People's Bank of China (PBOC)’s branches, as of the end of December 2022, the top ten provinces in terms of savings are as follows: Guangdong Province (32.23 trillion yuan), Jiangsu Province (21.86 trillion yuan), Zhejiang Province (19.63 trillion yuan), Shandong Province ( 14.60 trillion yuan), Sichuan Province (11.16 trillion yuan), Hebei Province (10.02 trillion yuan), Henan Province (9.31 trillion yuan), Hubei Province (7.95 trillion yuan), Liaoning Province (7.53 trillion yuan), Anhui Province (75,100 100 million yuan).
