SHANGHAI, Apr 24 (SMM) - Alumina prices dipped $3/mt to $353/mt FOB Western Australia last week, equivalent to about 3,038 yuan/mt CIF major ports in China after counting in ocean freight of $26/mt, which was 140 yuan/mt higher than the domestic spot prices. The import window has been closed since January 18. Overseas alumina prices will see limited downside room in the future mainly because Alcoa said in its latest quarterly report that its Australia-based Kwinana alumina refinery will maintain output cuts due to an extension of mine review and approval process. The refinery, which has an installed capacity of 2.19 million mt per year, curtailed 438,000 mt/year in January this year due to natural gas shortages.
