SHANGHAI, Apr 21 (SMM) – Entering April, most lithium battery copper foil companies said that the demand which had weakened in the first quarter did not improve, and the production schedules have continued to decrease compared with March, lowering the operating rates.
Enterprises have expressed that if the prices of lithium carbonate stabilise with cost support, the demand for CAM and anode materials can pick up.
The current weak market demand is mainly due to the previous frantic production rush by new energy vehicle companies before the removal of national subsidies, which to a certain extent overdraw the demand for raw materials in 2023.
Meanwhile, the phased price cuts in fuel-powered vehicles also restrain the consumption of new energy vehicles. Lithium battery copper foil market will remain weak in the short term. In addition to the poor end-user consumption, the lithium battery copper foil producers shifting to produce electronic circuit copper foil have intensified market competition.
It is expected that the electronic circuit copper foil industry will see declines in both prices and output in April.
