China’s Completed Shipbuilding Orders Fall in Q1 2023, But Shipbuilding Completions, New Orders and Orders on Hand All Rank Top Globally

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: From January to March 2023, the national shipbuilding completion volume was 9.17 million deadweight tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.6%.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: From January to March 2023, the national shipbuilding completion volume was 9.17 million deadweight tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.6%, of which sea-going ships were 3.08 million compensated gross tons; new orders were 15.18 million deadweight tons, a year-on-year increase of 53%, of which sea-going ships were 7.36 million compensated gross tons.

From January to March, China's shipbuilding completions, new orders and orders on hand accounted for 43.5%, 62.9% and 50.8% respectively of the world's total in deadweight tons, and 43%, 62.1% and 45.3% respectively in terms of compensated gross tons, all ranking first in the world.
