Chile to Remain Top Contributor to Global Copper Ore Production in 6 Years

Cochilco predicts that Chile's copper production will increase to 5.647 million mt in 2023 and 5.891 million mt in 2024.

SHANGHAI, Mar 28 – Cochilco predicts that Chile's copper production will increase to 5.647 million mt in 2023 and 5.891 million mt in 2024.

According to Bloomberg data, from 2023 to 2028, the new supply of global copper ore was 685,000 mt, 645,000 mt, 1,083,000 mt, 1,698,000 mt, 1,751,000 mt, and 2,894,000 mt, of which Chile’s contribution accounted for 41%, 21%, and 25%, 43%, 33% and 19%.

Chile will still be the main force in the new production capacity of global copper ore in the next 6 years.
