Rising Spot Copper Concentrate TCs in China and Growing Demand Boost Imports in Jan-Feb

From January to February, China imported 4.64 million mt of copper ore and concentrate in physical content.

SHANGHAI, Mar 16 (SMM) - From January to February, China imported 4.64 million mt of copper ore and concentrate in physical content, up 11.7% year-on-year. The commissioning of copper project with an annual smelting capacity of 400,000 mt owned by Daye Yangxin Hongsheng and the upgraded project with an annual smelting capacity of 80,000 mt owned by Tongling Jinguan in the third and fourth quarters of 2022 boosted the imported copper concentrate demand. On the other hand, from August to December 2022, the rising spot TCs also stimulated the smelters’ demand for imported copper concentrates.
