In the short term, Indonesia will ban the export of bauxite in June. At the same time, alumina plants in the areas were costs are high have reduced imported ore purchases to control cost.

If shipping rates continue to weaken, buyers will push for lower prices.

In this scenario, there may be sellers offering discounts, which can cause imported bauxite prices to fall slightly.
