Ample Supply Enabled Smelters to Lower Lead-Acid Battery Scrap Purchase Prices Again

SHANGHAI, Mar 14 (SMM) - Lead-acid battery scrap prices continued to fall last week, with the SMM prices down 50 yuan/mt on a weekly basis as of Friday.

SHANGHAI, Mar 14 (SMM) - Lead-acid battery scrap prices continued to fall last week, with the SMM prices down 50 yuan/mt on a weekly basis as of Friday. Traders lowered their recycling prices of e-bike battery scrap to 8,300-8,400 yuan/mt. Demand shock from massive maintenance or shutdowns of secondary lead smelters weighed on battery scrap prices. It's worth noting, though, that battery scrap supply may decline in the future due to dwindling battery replacement with the weather getting warmer. Traders in Sichuan and Shandong said they have obtained licenses for trans-province transportation of battery scrap.
