Falling Aluminium Prices Eroded Smelters' Profits

SHANGHAI, Mar 14 (SMM) - In terms of input costs, domestic alumina prices slipped last week, while domestic mine-mouth coal prices rose rapidly, pushing the average electricity price of aluminium smelters up by 0.002 yuan/kwh.

SHANGHAI, Mar 14 (SMM) - In terms of input costs, domestic alumina prices slipped last week, while domestic mine-mouth coal prices rose rapidly, pushing the average electricity price of aluminium smelters up by 0.002 yuan/kwh. The real-time full costs of smelters gained 12 yuan/mt from a week earlier to 17,217 yuan/mt as of last Friday, while SMM A00 aluminium prices stood at 18,230 yuan/mt, leaving their profits at 1,013 yuan/mt, shrinking 332 from a week ago.
