Alumina Output in February Declined

SHANGHAI, Mar 9 (SMM) - China’s metallurgical-grade alumina output in February (28 calendar days) was 6.12 million mt, down 3.9% MoM but up 16.1% YoY, according to SMM statistics. The average daily output increased 13,000 mt to 219,000 mt. As of the end of February, the domestic installed alumina capacity stood at 97.75 million mt while the operating capacity was 79.14 million mt, implying an average domestic operating rate of 80.9%. On the whole, it is estimated that the net imports of alumina in January will be 110,000 mt. And there existed a slight shortage of 300,000 mt in the month.
