Brazil's Vale recently announced that the company has begun commissioning the Gelado project in the Carajas region of the state of Para, Brazil, which will produce high-quality pellets by recycling tailings. The initial annual production capacity of the project is 5 million mt, and the total investment is 485 million US dollars. The 100% electric dredgers used to extract these tailings that have been stored for 37 years, Vale claims to use zero-carbon emission equipment to make the tailings sustainable.
