SHANGHAI, Feb 15 (SMM) - In January 2023, the pre-holiday resilient demand for manganese ore from domestic downstream enterprises slightly pushed up the quotation of manganese ore imports.
The monthly average price of Australian manganese ore lumps stood at 47.03 yuan/mtu, up 3.83% MoM, versus 43.81 yuan/mtu for Gabonese lumps, up 2.48% MoM, and 36.39 yuan/mtu for South African semi-carbonate manganese ore, up 5.34% MoM.
First of all, the Chinese enterprises were active in stocking manganese ore before the Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday. Furthermore, the impact of mine accident in Gabon extended, and manganese ore prices at ports went up bolstered by the speculation activities.
